Professional bridal alterations with a personal touch
The Town Seamstress was founded in 2019 with one goal in mind: build a space where people can make their gown their own. The Town Seamstress aims to make your formalwear fit and look how you have imagined it!
Since our founding, we’ve helped hundreds of women make a gown their own. From hand dyeing fabric to fully reshaping bodices, we’ve done our best to go above and beyond. Along with incorporation of custom accessory designs, The Town Seamstress is working quickly to provide you with everything you may need to make your wedding special and unique.
Our Story
Kristin Groberg Griffith
A local of Island/Skagit county who loves the beautiful backdrop of nature we get to call home, Kristin is a master tailor and has been in the Formal Wear Tailoring Industry for over a decade. She is excited to help turn any gown into “the one”. Her passion is helping women look and feel their best on one of the biggest days of their lives.
Tired of corporate nickel-and-dime culture, Kristin chose to create The Town Seamstress to help bring alterations back to a local, human-led place. She is more than happy to try to accommodate any request, and prides herself on making everyone feel welcome.
Grace Skelton
Grace Skelton is an Assistant Seamstress at The Town Seamstress. She has a degree in fashion design and merchandising from WSU and has loved sewing ever since she was little. In her free time she loves to make her own clothes, bake, garden, and ride bikes with her fiancé.
Tanya Snizko
Tanya Snizko is a Seamstress at the Town Seamstress, and a sewing powerhouse! You can often find her sewing in the front window overlooking 1st street.
Her favorite part of her job is when brides are overjoyed with their final dress, and challenging new projects. She loves growing orchids, traveling, and spending time with her family, which is the most important thing to her.
Mikaela Blumentritt
Mikaela Blumentritt is our Studio Admin Assistant and Scheduler. Her’s is the voice you’ll most often hear on the phone. Originally from Arizona, she and her husband moved to Washington to be closer to her sister.
When she’s not working, she enjoys camping, exploring the Pacific Northwest, caring for her zoo, trying new foods, writing, or working with her own clients. She and her sister own a mobile bartending and luxury desserts catering business where they curate and craft custom non-traditional desserts for private events and weddings.
